Brooklyn Style: Typing Notes
Monday, January 9, 2012 at 8:00AM Bettys, I am SO proud of this outfit! This is one of those dresses that hung in my closet for, umm, years. It was kind of expensive, I adore the flouncy skirt ... but I bought it when I was a little heavier & the top looks too big worn bare. Also the waist hits below my waist, so it's not flattering on it's own AND I can't belt it with the seam {my go to trick}. Friends, I tried this dress on with EVERY item I could think of in my wardrobe! I knew if I couldn't make it work I had to clear the clutter & let it go. And then this happened. And I did a little happy dance at my amazing powers of stying. Superhero in Brooklyn.

Dress: BCBG, Cardigan: Urban Outfitters, Belt: Gap, Shoes: DSW with clip on earrings purchased at the Brooklyn Flea {!}, Brooches: Banana Republic, came with some sweater long ago {?} & photographer Bess' grandmother
Typewriter: vintage, purchased on Portobello Road in Notting Hill, Notebooks: Walmart, Pillows: handmade by Best Friend & I
Can we take just a moment to acknowledge how incredible photographer Bess Friday is? From the crisp sunshiney Parisian shoot to the classic prep library to these cozy vintage frames. Delta Gamma sorority produces some talented sisters! Can't wait to play with her again!
P.S. Would love to know which of the three looks is your favorite! Always a good exercise to see how other people view your style so leave me a comment, why don't ya?

Hi Hilary,
This is my favourite shoot of the three but the preppy outfit with the stripes on the fire escape was my favourite outfit. You look fantastic in all three.

So love this outfit. But also am so SO loving the fireplace and gorg mirror behind. Where is this, please?
Corey, it's my friend Dominic's apartment nearby in Brooklyn Heights. Amazing right?! I so love it there. He's a writer & it feels like THE quintessential writer's home to me.
